Khoisan is an unifying name for two ethnic groups of South Africa, who share
physical and putative linguistic characteristics distinct from the Bantu majority of the region.

They are divided into the foraging San and the pastoral Khoi.
They arrived in the Kalahari area before the Bantu people.

Their distinctive language is known mostly for the chracteristic clicks.
In 1964, there was a bantustan established for the Bushmen in South-West Africa,
but it never got a government and was abolished in 1989.

Today, there is an attempt by the Khoi and the Boesman National Assembly to organize the Khoisan nation.
Also, the two major ethnic groups of the Khoisan, the Ju'hoansi and the Xun (Khung) are asserting distinctive
indentity trying to find its place in the new South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.
