A state formed by the Bolewa tribe, settled in Daniski in the 15th century, then moved to Fika c 1800.
In 1899 it became part of the Northern Nigeria British protectorate.
Today it is a traditional state in Yobe State of modern Nigeria.
It is a multi-ethnic emirate with the majority of Bole people who number about 100.000.
