Hiran (Hiiraan) is an administrative region in south-central Somalia inhabited mostly by the members of Hawiye Clan.
It borders the Somal Region of Ethiopia to the northwest, Galgudud to the north-east and the Al-Shabaab - controlled part of Somalia
to the southwest and west.

The Shebelle River flows into the Hiiraan from Ethiopia and runs past the provincial capital of Beledweyne.
There appear to be two rival administrations claiming the territory of Hiiraan.
Both were set-up abroad and it is unclear how much leverage they have at home.

Both are respresenting the Hawiye clan and profess loyalty to the Transitional Somali Government.
The second one obviously likes the Garuda bird of Indonesia. And the Russian colors too.
