The Hui people, although they are not ethnically Han Chinese, are similar in culture to them, with the exception that they practice Islam.

The Hui are believed to be descendent from the Silk Road travelers: Arabs, Central Asians, Persians.
They have a distinction of the only Chinese nationality without assigned language.

They all speak Chinese and use Arabic and Uighur for the religious purposes.
There is no significant nationalistic movement there, but they are increasingly reasserting their religious rights in Communist China.
Total number is estimated to be at 10 million.
