Nogays are a Turkic ethnic group in northern Dagestan, Stavropol Krai, Karachay-Chekessia and Astrakhan Oblast.
They speak Nogay and are descendants of various Turkic tribes, mainly Kipchaks, who formed the Nogai Horde.
During the 1860s, when significant Russian expansion into Nogay territory began, many Nogays emigrated to Turkey, Crimea and Balkans.
Presently, they have two semi-autonomous districts, one in Dagestan and the other in Karachayevo-Cherkess Republic.
Total number worldwide is about 128.000

There is a Nogay organization, Birlik, which looks up after Nogay's national intrests.
