Description

Sudetenland

Wiki[link]

Sudetenland denotes the northern, southwestern and western regions of Czechoslovakia in the first half of
the 20th century which were inhabited mostly by the ethnic Germans.

The first German settlers arrived there in the 13th century.
Following WWI, the area, despite the overwhelming German majority, was awarded to the new Czechoslovak state on historical grounds.
In 1938, Hitler demanded acquisition of Sudetenland, and the Czechs, aboandoned by the Allies, submitted to these demands.

After WWII, the Sudeten Germans faced a mass expulsion justified by the fact that vast majority of them were ardent supporters of Nazism.
Only those who could prove the anti-Nazi affiliation were allowed to stay.

Presently, 40.000 Germans live in the Czech Republic.
The refugees are organized into Sudetendeutsche Landsmannschaft in Germany, denouncing the Benes decrees which removed them.

"After WWII, the Sudeten Germans faced a mass expulsion justified by the fact that vast majority of them were ardent supporters of Nazism."

This was said by the Beneš-decrees. The Sudetengermans had no influence in the election in 1933, so no influence at helping Nazis gain force and a part of them were discriminated against by the Czechs since WWI.
This is no justification for the crimes the Nazis did there after the Anschluss. Remember the crimes on both sides equally, please. Still remember how many died and what happened because of the
Beneš-decrees.

I only want say, that justice can't be find in one of the actions either - The Beneš-decrees and the Nazi-dictatorship.

So please write
objectively about this topic.
